About Our Bar

T

ake a bit of Rive Gauche pavement café chic, throw in a touch of  trendy “Manchesta (sic) Northern Quarter Cocktail Bar”, add a hint of “low-down, two-bit sleazy dive”, chuck in some compost, big plants and mirrors, spice it up with fresh coffee and a wide range of exotic liqueurs, chill it down with a lot of cool sounds, cool décor and cool dudes behind the bar, and things add up to a bit of a change at one of your friendly locals.

The Britannia Inn (No 101 Ullswater Road), is over 100 years old, an architecturally interesting building and a community pub for a long, long time. There’s a new team in charge as of summer 2006, and things are changing at the Britannia 101. As of now the bar has had a first stage make-over, new décor, a no-smoking lounge, outside seating areas, great sound system and cool sounds … all are welcome and we’re family and children friendly, we have a great range of real ales, spirits and liqueurs and good wine. And, as of Jan 2007 we serve fantastic food range of Mezze and Tapas every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (menus - here...).

If you like to work, think and drink the Britannia has free-access broadband wireless internet - you just need your ’wireless-enabled’ laptop. If you like to chill out, the no-smoking lounge with leather settees, magazines and books, and a regular art exhibition changing monthly, is probably perfect for you; or maybe the outside tables in the warm weather. If you fancy forgetting work and relaxing with some activity, our pool table and quiz machines might help.
