The Britannia101 Have your say, your feedback to Lancaster City Council will help determine whether the Britannia stays open as it is now or shuts. Dear reader, An application has been submitted to the police and the council by two local residents asking for a review of the licensing conditions for the Britannia 101 as of July 16th on the grounds of: Prevention of Crime and Disorder - due to rowdy behaviour from the pub; Prevention of Public Nuisance - from noise and foul language into the early hours; Protection of Children from Harm - due to the distress and loss of sleep that noise from the Britannia has been causing local children. Excepts from the Application stating the grounds for objection to the Britannia are enclosed. The review will potentially impose new conditions that will result in restricted use of the Britannia101 both inside and outside. This could ultimately result in the closure of the Britannia101. If you agree with the suggestion that the Britannia is an unruly, noisy, foul-language social resource which creates distress to adults and children, please feel free to write or email the council (the contact details are provided below). If, however you disagree with the above and are opposed to the pending review, you may also want to write. You should state how close you are to the Britannia, whether you feel any noise created is of an unacceptable level, whether or not you think it has been maintained by management to a good standard, and if you enjoy the facilities and events provided by your local public house. Full details of the application for
review are available on Lancaster City Council website
