Britannia101 Neighbourhood Impact and
Customer Satisfaction Survey As part of the Britannia101's commitment to responsible business and being a good neighbour, we have carried out a Neighbourhood Impact and Customer Satisfaction Survey. The outcome from this survey will be used to inform and direct our current operating and licensing policies and will also play a role in helping us make judgements about future plans. We distributed around 300 survey forms to households in the immediate vicinity, receiving a response of around 25%; around 100 forms were picked up by customers in the bar with about 75% of these being returned, the form was also available on our website, around twenty people used this method to respond. A total of 190 responses were received of which 87 people described themselves as customers (not neighbours), 10 as neighbours (not customers), 89 as both neighbours and customers, and 14 left this section unanswered. As promised The Britannia101 will make a donation of £50 to Lancaster Homeless Action (the local charity we support) in respect of the forms returned to the bar or submitted on-line. We would like to thank all of you for participating in a real local consultation exercise and hope you appreciate the results presented here. On a lighter note, I was concerned at a few suggestions that my survey hadn't followed the British Standard of excellence for surveys (or something like that). So if anyone is interested i'll make the following offer, If want, you can come in and check the raw data, if my data and analysis is less than 95% correct i'll donate £25 to a charity of choice and will eat the offending questionnaire. On the other hand, that works both ways if my data is good, you donate £25 and eat the survey form :-) Now. I reckon that with so much data there's only a 95% chance that i've got it all 95% correct, so the real question is ... "Do you feel lucky ....?" Thank you for taking the time to read this message, our Survey Analysis follows directly below. Best wishes, Britannia101 Neighbourhood Impact and
Customer Satisfaction Survey This image contains an area map summarizing the results of the following questions. Click on the image to enlarge it to full size, it will take about 20 seconds to download but since it has some of the most important and interesting information on it, its worth the wait.
1. General impressions: 2. Visual amenity: 3. Tidiness:
4. Noise:
OTHER QUESTIONS Noise Policy We asked how often people were affected by noise, and also whether people felt our policy of use of our outside areas should be changed. Of the 99 respondents who described themselves as neighbours: Eighty six said they were never affected by noise from the Britannia, six said they were occasionally affected by noise and six said they were frequently affected by noise. (one person did not answer this question). Sixty four people said we should allow people outside to drink until close of business, seventeen said we should not allow drinking outside after midnight, nine people said we should not allow drinking outside after 11pm and two people felt we should bring people in at 10pm, four people left the question unanswered.
Community - Local Crime; Mini-Festivals The Britannia101 is committed to proactive engagement within our community, for example we are seeking to promote a local pub-watch scheme where local pubs will work together exchanging information to combat crime and drunkenness. We are also hoping to help support and promote social recreation, for example local mini-festivals - starting off with this Halloween! - these events will involve local businesses, pubs, the Gregson Community centre and other organisation and individuals in working together to create something fun and enjoyable for everyone. Of 190 respondents: LOCAL CRIME: 168 people would like our local pubs to work together to help reduce crime and disorder. 22 people we either not-interested or left this question unanswered. MINI FESTIVALS: 166 people would like our local pubs, community organisations and local authorities to support and promote mini-festivals in the Freehold area, 3 people would not want this at all, and the rest of the respondents were not bothered or didn't answer,
FOOD The Sun and Moon Tapas Bistro You may not be aware, but the Britannia101 now hosts a Tapas restaurant the Sun and Moon, we didn't ask much about it since this was partly a bit of shameless self-promotion - the Sun and Moon website is www.sunandmoontapas.co.uk (check it out). The food, staff and surroundings are fantastic. 169 respondents liked the idea of having a local restaurant in the Freehold area, one person out of 190 didn't, the rest of the respondents weren't bothered.
ART The Britannia101 hosts at least one, usually two exhibitions by local artists, we are considering whether to start exhibiting installation artworks -ie great big things outside which you may love or hate, but which you will find interesting. 149 people were interested in the idea of art and supporting local artists; four people did not want this to happen, thes rest of the respondents were not bothered.
Music and events The Britannia101 has a policy of supporting local musicians and groups, every Thursday we put on live music, we avoid loud rock bands and go for Jazz groups, world folk music, duos and solo artists, the music finishes around 11pm. Its always free and we would like people to support these events as they support local talent and are pretty much loss leaders for the pub - we just love having these guys play! 165 people would like to see more live music from local musicians, 18 people would not, 7 people did not respond or weren't bothered.
Local business 148 respondents said yes they would, 28 people said no they would not, 14 people failed to answer or weren't bothered
We also gave you chance to make your own suggestions, this is what you came up with ...
LAST BUT NOT LEAST We offered you chance to make any other comments or suggestions you wished about the Britania101. I'd like to say a special thank you to those of you who took the time to do this, and a huge thank you to all of you who created a wave of positive comment and congratulations about what we have achieved here in the last sixteen months, it quite took my breath away.
