The corner gallery lounge in the 101 is a cosy, no-smoking room, set
out with leather armchairs and bookcases to create a relaxing and
peaceful area. The room is used as a small gallery display area by
local artists, the current exhibition can be viewed
here...
This room was originally used as a service room probably from about
1850 when the pub opened. One of our older members remembers being
brought here on his father's shoulders with a large jug to get filled
with ale to take home for tea. He was three or four years old, in 1923!
We've revealed the original stone fireplace and decorated in a
Victorian heritage green and red, to try to recreate some of the
original atmosphere of 150 years ago.
